Hola, Como estas? Howdy, salutations, bon jour! I’m Clair, and I’m a solo female vanlifer and this is my intro into vanlife. I travel part time in my Mercedes Sprinter van. Originally, I wanted to get a small Airstream trailer to travel in, but then the whole vanlife lifestyle caught on on Instagram, and I knew a van was for me; being free to park wherever, whenever is so freeing. I’m on van number two, I recently upgraded to a 4×4. I’ll be doing more posts on how to go about vanlife, and choosing a van floor plan that will best suit you. I will be addressing several vanlife challenges that I’ve learned the hard way. I’ve come full circle and hope to be a helpful source of inspiration and information! Allow me to be your sherpa, spirit animal, or spirit guide!
Also, traveling as a female, alone presents it’s own challenges. I’m not saying that I’m less without a man, but I feel potentially vulnerable at times. Perhaps this is my own perception, or maybe it’s the world’s. I’ll let you, the reader, be the judge as I bumble my way through vanlife. Maybe we can help each other out and create a new conversation. This is a small community, but the web of connectivity is so intertwined and lovely, so warm and welcoming.
So, here I am welcoming you, and myself to this interesting, luscious experience of traveling and finger-painting your own journey into vanlife. We are the creators and narrators of our own stories. It is my belief that we get to tell our own story, choose our own adventure, and follow our passion. In my mind, all you have to do is decide what you want, break it down into big steps or a framework. Work on the details of those bigger steps every. single. day. Slowly, but surely, you will have manifested your dreams. Slowly, but certainly, you will find yourself living your version of the vanlife experience! Welcome to the intro into vanlife. Viva la van!
